Of all the things in the world to be frustrated with, I lose my cool over food. Really, Christine? Okay, yes, really. Restaurants dates and The Family do not go well together at all. Argh.

Next drunk person who tries something stupid is going to get ass-whooped so bad.
Like broken arm kind of bad.
Meanwhile,
I finally met someone whom I hold much distaste for.
I am
not. amused.
Physical payback is amateurish.
Just wait for it.
Pissed off.

Bummed But.

Looks like the freshly brewed vanilla coffee from the IBM igloo did a fantastic job. 5-frickin'-am and I remain awake. For once, it's actually a positive side effect. Did some flashtrip-planning after our semi-reckless plan to Munich fell through. Probably a good thing else we'd be wandering through the absymally cold city in search of a place to stay. That said, I am quite bummed about the failed plan; was very much looking forward to meet up with a friend and getting out of ECP.

The day was an overall great one though and I've plenty to be thankful for. Made pizzas for dinner, satisfied my pizza craving and met lovely new people ("He sings in the shower!! I can hear him all the time! Never stops talking!"), received welcomed chocolate relief in mid-afternoon, got the photos I printed, came up with Plan B for Easter Weekend Blitz-Trip aaaand kind of understood what went on in class despite all the confusion.

Also, managed to lock myself out of my room today most stupidly. The lady at the reception merely grinned, daintily half-nodded, waved a hand and produced a form for me to fill before handing me another set of keys.

In other news:
"Hello! Do you have any more of those pretty bags? I'd like one! (:"
"Well, for a pretty girl, I'm sure we do!" -proceeds to hand me two-
So glib.

Sunday School

Sunday, July 29, 2012

I spent 12 hours in school today working on a project.
Half of which was spent on the floor in a small room because it had working power sockets.
8 of which was spent without food.
On a lovely. Sunday.
I don't even know where to begin. It's one of those snafus you hope not to get into but at the back of your mind you half expect what's coming. This is the first weekend I've spent in Beijing that does not involve me gallivanting around. Sad.
Time is running short; I hope next week will be better spent.

Going Back to the Corner

Friday, July 27, 2012

It started with a desire for a drink to lift our weary spirits.

After a depressing day struggling to understand data that made no sense and equations that wouldn't cooperate while researching for elusive information on a project, we headed out of school (now I know how my friends living on campus feel) for Mexican food, on a friend's suggestion. Save the lovely fare at Bridge Cafe, it's the happiest thing I've eaten since staying at Beihang. Certainly, certainly, the nine miserable hours before that made the emotional difference all the more tangible.

The eatery was at Wudaokou; back to the lovely place we couldn't wait to get out of just two weeks ago. I'm sorry I ever thought that way. All the familiar sights of roadside vendors, snack stalls, Bridge cafe, the huge junction with the bright facade of Global Club. For all the inconvenience the previous apartment wrought, its happening location more than made up for it. (Where I am now, there is no place that sells a proper drink that does not require taking some form of public transport. And the roadside vendors seem to be trying to create a mini-economy based on (almost) perfect competition outside the gates of Beihang. Why are so many of them selling fruits??)

Post-dinner, filled with happy food and a vague reluctance to go back so soon, the two of us headed to Lush, a cafe-by-day-bar-by-night establishment that had been overly crowded the last time we visited. I was looking forward to the familiar, slightly bitter taste of a drink only to realise that the daiquiri I ordered was equivalent to fruit juice. The other drink - a White Russian - garnered the complaint that it tasted like milk. It tasted better than mine though. Disappointed with his drink, my friend decided to order another. This time, it was an epic-ly large cup of Lush Long Island Tea. 1.25litres. More alcohol content, he said, grinning gleefully. We finished it, after abusing the bar's free wifi for two hours odd.

In other news, I encountered Massive Subway Rush #2 this evening on the way to dinner. This time, I had to  shove a guy off the train so I could alight.

Not even funny.
I have gotten more headaches, neckaches and shoulder aches in miserable one week than I did in the three months studying for A levels.
BREATHE.

How Much More

This week has been trying. & so will the next week.

[edit]:
Would've liked to watch DramaFest but ohhh angst-inducing programming had to be done. ARGH.

Speedmas

Some stores have already swept their shelves clean of Christmas goods, stocked them with Chinese New Year festivities and swapped the jingle bells for firecrackers & cymbals. All these just one day after Christmas. A little too fast, don't you think? Is Christmas that commercially un-viable in Singapore? I can't help but feel a little miffed that they're decking the halls with fortune bamboos and kamquat plants so soon :(

ARGH. Short sentences! Short! &! sweet! sentences!! Everyone should practice writing concise sentences! Stop looping all over the place. One sentence, one (or at most two) point(s)! Sentences are not mini-vans! Where are the fullstops when I need them. 0.0

Chocolate has been ruining my appetite lately. Granted, I've been eating it at the wrong time but still, isn't it wayyy too harsh to smash my appetite to smithereens?? Because of that, I realised that 2am's a really bad time to have hunger pangs.

Stop being such a pain. (Ha ha)
I promise to start exercising more.

Also, the most popular question I receive now is, "So, when are you gonna get a boyfriend?" or some variation of it. While chitchatting with the ladies & gents in church today, every single one of them posted aforementioned query. That is in addition to kpo inquiries from various concerned (*coughs) individuals. What! Is! This! The whole.damn.world. is on my case and it's not.amusing.anymore.okay??? >:/ Evidently agitated because having to constantly outrightly dodge/ politely sidestep the same damn question (since it's none of your business) is annoying and repetitive. STOP ITTTTT or I'll stop being polite.

Fridays, why must you be so happening??

Two thirds of my camp-free period has disappeared. SHUCKS. My vacation is ending. Still very occupied even while camp-less but definitely better than having nothing to do!

In more interesting news, a guitar-strumming busker at the train station totally made my yester-day. Really, it's hard not to when he sang Besame Mucho and Streets of London with tremendous gusto while cheekily mixing in his own lyrics about the upcoming presidential elections. People actually stopped to listen and there was a bunch of them just chilling on the steps nearby  to watch him perform.

Unjustified anger feels like energy absorbed into the body from a hard kick to the gut. & it makes me irrational enough to want to unleash that fury of a thousand queens at the slightest annoyance from the next somebody who passes my way.

SIGHHH. GOTTA START GROWING UP :/

KIND OF A BAD TIME TO HAVE A MASS TREE PRUNING SESSION RIGHT OUTSIDE MY HOUSE DON'T YOU THINK?!?

THE NOISE IS DRIVING ME BEYOND BATSHIT CRAZY.

Dear Headache

Yes, OKAY, you win the award for holding the longest drum concert in my head. Whoopeedoo.
Now go away dammit.

Sincerely
My Finals Are In Two Weeks & I Need To Start Studying.

Spreadsheets. Suck.

Remind me again, which fleeting, idealistic thought was it that possessed me to agree to take on this role?? For someone who usually shies away from admin-heavy ordered stuff, babe, you just stepped into one massive administrative nightmare from hell. (Okay, I exaggerate. It could've been worse, but it's bad enough.) It is annoying me in ways I never thought possible (like wth! Uncapitalised names?!? & that's just the start).

(This could very well be the tiredness talking.)

Should endeavour to tone down the OCD perfectionist streak.
STOP CAPITALISING ALL THE DAMNED NAMES YOU SEE, CHRISTINE.

Egads.

Grouchy.

Word of the day:
MORONS.

Also,
the one-sided headache is back.

Quote of the day, as stated above. Interesting thought & interesting parties involved.

In other news, this evening beautifully wrapped up what was an otherwise awful day. The computer corrupted the document I had painstakingly worked on. Might have killed a computer in a fit of anger. Dropped my phone. Lugged a deadweight textbook around the whole day. Barely understood the stats lecture (omg, the backlog piling up). Spent the day impatiently waiting for 6 O'clock to arrive. It rained at 5 freakin' O'clock.
"OMG It's gonna rain! D:"
"I heard (literally) )):"
BUT

The rain stopped at 6. (THANK YOU GOD!!) The rain stopped at 6 (I've never been this happy to see rain stopppp). The rain stopped at 6 (I cannot even describe the GLEE I felt. I could've whoohoo-ed in the middle of the road). I got to play tennis (Never mind that I got totally ass-whooped). I got to play tennis (for a good 2odd hours!). I got to play tennis :D (& it totally made up for the terrible start of the day!).

Tennis + friends + cool evening weather + chatting + other random things== AWSMNSS. Looks like College Fridays will be making a return :D (except that strictly speaking, it's no longer college.)

Sleep well (:

Pre-Written Post-Published I

How is it humanely possible for a person to generate noise without WITHOUT opening her mouth?! I.simply.cannot.tahan/fathom/understand.it. Staying at home, i.e. in close proximity to The Noise-making Terror has drastically increased my Snarkiness Level & decreased my lifespan. It's like some obscure superhuman ability to produce sound waves with high audio frequency that body-slams into you & starts jabbing you with a stick while giggling incessantly (like he.hehe.he.hehe.he). Everything aside, she is the epitome of Annoying and practically three steps away from being the Ultimate SuperVillain of All Time: maniacal laughter, obsession with world domination & mini-me. (OMGGG THANK GOODNESS THERE WILL NEVER BE A MINI ME HER IN THE NEAR FUTURE. I.WILL.DIE.DIEEE.) I swear if she were to yell-whine my name one more time I will witch-shriek into her ear before spontaneously vapourizing & leaving a trail of bubbles in my wake.

OMG how is it possible?! HOW IS SHE POSSIBLE?!?!? 0.0 Breathe, Christine. Breeeeaaathe.

I am bringing masking tape with me when we go to Shanghai.
